7-Day Ladakh Winter Itinerary
Arrive at Leh airport, where the crisp winter air will greet you. Transfer to your pre-booked, centrally heated hotel. Acclimatization is even more critical in winter. Rest completely for the entire day to allow your body to adjust to the high altitude and cold temperatures.
After breakfast, explore the local sights of Leh. Visit the iconic Shanti Stupa, offering stunning panoramic views of the snow-clad Stok Kangri range. Explore the historic Leh Palace and browse the Leh market, which has a unique, quiet charm in winter.
Today, visit some of Ladakh's famous monasteries like Thiksey and Hemis, which are peaceful and serene in winter. Also, drive to the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers at Nimmu, where you can see the beginnings of the famous Chadar (frozen river). Visit Magnetic Hill and Pathar Sahib Gurudwara.
Embark on an adventurous full-day trip to the magnificent Pangong Lake. The journey via Chang La pass (subject to weather conditions) is spectacular, with snow all around. Witness the breathtaking sight of the lake completely frozen, a vast expanse of blue ice. Spend time on the frozen surface before driving back to Leh by evening.
Today, we attempt to drive towards Khardung La, one of the world's highest motorable passes. The road is often covered in heavy snow, and access depends on clearance by the authorities. If open, the views from the top are absolutely surreal. If closed, this day will be at leisure to explore more of Leh or visit local villages.
Enjoy a leisurely day in Leh. You can revisit the market to buy souvenirs like pashmina shawls, apricot products, or local handicrafts. You can also visit the Central Asian Museum or simply relax at a local cafe, sipping on warm butter tea.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh airport for your flight back home, with unforgettable memories of a unique and magical winter in Ladakh.
